Residents of New York now have a convenient way to secure lawyers who can handle custody issues, criminal matters, write their will and help them on other legal matters. The New York State Bar Association’s trusted Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS) launched a new online portal for persons seeking an attorney. Individuals have the option of accessing the confidential service which is available 24 hours a day or use the LRIS telephone service.
The online portal is a result of the partnership between New York States Bar and Legal.io, a licensed provider of software and other IT solutions to the legal systems. The partnership aims to redefine how lawyers can offer their legal services to a large number of people at a cheaper cost and create an online trust for people relying on New York Law. Individuals seeking lawyers can visit the website (https://nysbalris.legal.io) and fill out a confidential questionnaire stating their legal issue and location. The State Bar staff then assigns the individual to a local lawyer following the client’s need.
